On Saturday October 29, in recognition of October as National Audiology Month, a team of runners showed up in central Winnipeg to promote hearing health and raise awareness for hearing loss. At 8:00am, participants geared up at the Winnipeg Legislative Building to hand out t-shirts and other paraphernalia.

HearingLife Canada Audiologist Andrea Richardson-Lipon lead the team of enthusiastic runners, (all of which sported eye-catching Go Bananas gear,) towards the HearingLife Canada clinic on 2727 Portage Avenue where an aid station awaited them. 680 CJOB radio host Geoff Currier was live on site to cover this exciting event! With their energy still high, the runners loaded up on carbs, water and Gatorade before leaving at 11:00am to continue their trek around the city.

All the while, Jillian Price, (Chief Audiologist of ListenUP! Canada, HearingLife Canada and national affiliates,) cheered on the sidelines, but vowed to be a runner in the marathon next year. Her support was greatly appreciated.

The final stretch of the marathon took the runners back to the Legislative Building. They concluded the event with a celebratory and well deserved meal.

On behalf of HearingLife Canada and the National Campaign for Better Hearing, we would like to thank all the participants for their enthusiasm and dedication to this marathon and 680 CJOB Radio for covering the event from 8:30am to 12:30pm. We would also like to thank HearingLife Canada Regional Manager, Marc Dubois, for capturing the event with his camera. The Marathon for Better Hearing helped to promote hearing health and hearing loss awareness; we hope to roll it out again next year – but bigger and better!
